Modul University Vienna is a private university in Austria that teaches entirely in English and admitted its first students in 2007, although the Modul brand in hospitality and tourism education goes back more than a century through the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Austria's largest private school operator. The chamber retains a ten percent shareholding, with the remaining ninety percent held by Mathias Corvinus Collegium. All degrees are accredited by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria and are therefore recognised across the European Union. The academic portfolio spans foundation programmes, bachelor's and master's degrees, an MBA and doctoral study, concentrated in business and management, international tourism and hospitality, sustainable development, international relations and data science and artificial intelligence. Teaching is deliberately small-scale, with average undergraduate class sizes in the low twenties and graduate seminars of roughly nine students, and the faculty and student body together represent more than seventy nationalities. The campus occupies a restored complex of about 4,000 square metres on the Kahlenberg, a 484-metre wooded hill in Vienna's nineteenth district, with ten modern lecture rooms, a library, a cafeteria and panoramic terraces overlooking the city; rooftop solar panels support the university's sustainability commitments. Students enter in a September autumn semester or a February spring semester, and a second campus operates in Nanjing, China.
